11 members, 1 guest, some of the Post 78 Advisors, and several parents attended the presentation given by Mr. Rothiner on being an Air Traffic Controller.
Mr. Rothiner discussed working with many different types of aviators—from students to Air Force One pilots. For a career as an air traffic controller, Mr. Rothiner emphasized that one should be able to handle high stress, multi-task, and to stay focused during an eight hour shift. When asked if he liked his career, Mr. Rothiner commented that he felt that he never worked a day in his life. He truly enjoyed his career.
One highlight Mr. Rothiner shared with the explorers was a challenge coin and squadron patch that were given to him by the squadron commander for safely guiding a damaged F-16 to a landing at CVG.
The presentation was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
The next Aviation Exploring Post 78’s meeting is the Young Eagles flights at Sporty’s on Saturday, January 21, 9:00am.
